Why do wiring terminals need electroplating?

1. Aesthetics (such as gold plating, silver, nickel, etc.)

After electroplating, the metal of the wiring terminal usually has a more shiny and beautiful appearance than the material.

2. Anti corrosion (such as nickel plating, chromium plating, zinc plating, etc.)

Usually, raw materials such as copper and iron are easily oxidized in the air. Electroplating a layer of metal with strong oxidation resistance can improve the corrosion resistance of wiring terminals.

3. Strong electroplating adhesion (such as copper)

For metals with poor adhesion, a copper substrate is usually applied before electroplating to enhance adhesion.

4. Enhance conductivity (such as gold, silver)

The conductivity of raw materials such as iron and phosphorous copper is usually below 20%. For connectors with low impedance requirements, they cannot meet the requirements. Therefore, electroplating high conductivity metals such as gold on the surface can reduce their impedance.

5. Improve soldering properties (such as tin, gold, etc.)

Due to the poor adhesion of the raw material to tin, electroplating a certain thickness of tin and other substances on the surface can improve the solderability of the parts.
